Apply to become an admin! / [Trial] _bobby_tables_ admin application

- Nickname: _bobby_tables_ (n-ice and IRC)

- Age: Old enough to have seen the original Star Wars in theaters during its 1977 release when I was 11.  The answer is "old" for those wanting to avoid the math.

- Location: Florida, USA

- Explanations: Don't recall any admin issues.

- The main reason that made you want to become an n-ice admin: I want to support the community and keep participation high and fun for all here.  Really love OTTD and want to support a multi-player venue.

- How much are you online weekly (how many hours): 10-20 hours

- What is your current domain of work/ study: Work in IT, mainly with relational databases.

General / [Done] Server 8 ended with error?

A game just ended on Serever 8 at about 03:00 October 27.  I'm not sure the game ended gracefully.  I can in second with about 19.5 billion, but got no points.  Joint.nl was also in the game and he doesn't seem to have earned any points either.  The game was won by an unregistered team (I think they were unregistered).  Please review and award points as necessary.  Thanks!

Server #5 reset in the middle of the game, back to 1980 with no established companies and nothing built.  They game was at about 2004 and I was leading with about 1 billion euro.  I would have won the game in a few more hours.  Can we get a RCA?

General / Crossing Lakes

Must bridges be used to cross lakes, or is it acceptable to terraform a causeway?  I've spoken to players who think bridges must be used, but many players, myself included, build causeways.  The server rules don't address this issue, so I assumed causeways were allowed.  Is there any official position?

General / [Done] Vote Restart

On 7/13/2018 around 06:00 GMT, server 5 was restarted by one player who logged in twice to vote for a restart.  I was AFK but logged in.  At the time I was 12 billion toward the 15 billion goal.  It was probably 17 hours into the game.  My rate of earnings would have finished the game in less than another two hours.

Is this kind of thing allowed?  Can this player be banned?  My console was truncated before I could screenshot the evidence.  I'm sure the server logs will still show the details.

Is there a way to prevent this in the future?  Thanks.

General / Negative Bank Balance

Often when starting a game investment will outpace income.  After the initial maximum loan and construction, the running bank balance can briefly go negative between station stops.  Is there a negative limit that you can hit to cause a bankruptcy?  If so, what is that limit?  Does it vary by server?  I couldn't find anything in the settings that controls this.  Thanks.

General / Cargo Payment Confusion

I recently participated in a long challenge and was subject to some cargo payments that I could not understand.  I hope someone can help me explain why the game behaved the way it did.

Sorry, but this setup may be lengthy.  I had established two large rail stations acting as collection points at the extreme north and south edges of the map.  I was collecting coal and wood from the north and transporting them to the south station which accepted both cargoes.  Conversely, I was collecting wood and coal from the southern region and transporting them north.  So far no problems and payments for those cargoes worked as expected.  However, I was also trying to transport the resulting goods from the sawmill across the map.  I was picking up goods from both ends and transferring them at the other end of the map.  I had to transfer them since neither station accepted goods.  No problem, I set up local destination trains to pick up the goods and finalize the transport to local cities.  Unfortunately, I was unable to do so profitably.

I ran into two problems.  First was the issue of the two way feeder service (https://wiki.openttd.org/Two-way_feeder_service).  I wasn't aware of this issue at the time.  Otherwise I would have devised a different final distribution chain.  However, at times my local trains did pick up transferred cargo as evidenced by the cargo detail.  My confusion stems from these cases.  Whenever the delivery of these long distance transferred goods was accomplished, I was hit with huge costs instead of profits.  I eventually just terminated the final delivery since I didn't understand why I was getting charged for delivering this transferred cargo.  The trains making the long north-south transfers were still generating big transfer credits.  I just couldn't profitably complete final delivery.

Can anyone explain this behavior?  Is the game trying to prevent such blatant round robin types of routes?  Is this a recognized loop-hole that has been closed with these financial penalties?  Any insights would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

General / Long Goal Server Disconnect

I was on server #5 - Long Goal $15 billion - for April 7 & 8.  On the evening of the 8th I came back to my PC and was given the message that the session had been terminated by the server.  Logging back in shows the game had been reset.  Can I get an explanation as to why this occurred?  Thanks.

General / Scoring discrepancies?

Been playing OpenTTD about a month, so I'm still new.  However, I'm hooked!  I especially like the multiplayer servers you run.  Thanks!

I've noticed that the score reported by the game server during shutdown is often different (usually a few points lower) than what gets posted to this website.  I was curious why there is a difference.  Does the website consider additional variables or apply different weights?  Thanks.
