Changelog / Re: 1.4.2 release

btw, I'll like to know who made those votes... I think it's fair enough my person know how many players voted! And how many times! Is it possible (as works in many other communities?)
I´m confused !?!?! Which votes ? For the xCommunities ?  ::)
I think he is mistaking "karma" for a popularity competition. ST2 let met explain something (I hope not in vain):
SOME of your points are quite fair and good. They are NOT the reason for your bad "score". The reasons for that are (imho):
You mentioning it (the karma)time and again.
The tone in which you make the posts.
The fact that your posts rarely contain constructive criticism or ideas. (sometimes those are present, but they are often covered in a thick layer of sarcasm and references to your person and the perceived incapability of n-ice "staff". First I thought it was due to your bad relationship with alex, but he is rarely present anymore and now your vengeance seems directed at Chucky for no apparent reason. That makes you seem vengeful and often even a bit silly.

For example: what have the server addresses being available got to do with the 1.4.2 release? And what has all of this got to do with your karma and who "voted" for it?

Honestly the best advice I can give you is this: if you have something to say, say it without "reading between the lines" vague insinuations, vague links to previous incidents and false modesty. It would certainly benefit your karma.
Also I think it would be appreciated if you post things in the correct boards (for example complaints in the complaints section, not disguised as advertisement)

Depend of the bandwidth the xServers are used for testing only. They aren´t present stable so no need to link it directly - i don´t wanna enable/disable the links daily. You can reach the xServers from multiplayer window on every client !
I do not know if you are using the same ip settings and ports every time you create a new server but, if you are using the same, there is no need to change them each time. If the servers are online the buttons will work, if not they won't. (unless I am missing something).
PS. @ ST2 this point seems a bit strange, since you did not add links to Btpro #99 every time you had a test server running there either (unless I missed it)

and please, login here(forum) = login (here and website); logout here/website = logout everywhere! Some players use public access points! So, a LOGOUT action is and should be enough!
please what do you mean ?
If I am not mistaken he would like the login/logout buttons on the forum and the website to be connected so that logging in/out on one automatically does the same on the other. Although I do not really have a problem with the current situation I can see the benefits of having it the suggested way. (Especially when not on a trusted computer (like home pc or private work computer))

It is funny to see that after months of silence the only (public) post that draws your attention and urge to reply enough is one like this. Also you still seem to think that being dramatic and exaggerate will get more sympathy for your point.  To prevent us getting stuck on definitions again I highlighted some sentences and phrases I consider dramatic and/or exaggeration:
...each conversation with you can just go on without an end..
...advertisments posted in every group of facebook, comment section of news sites on the internet...
...recommending an event a million times...
(this is not an attack or something I expect a reply on, simply an observation)

I never thought u would defend this behaviour from other posts.
I am glad that you do not think I am the evil bastard that will take every chance to attack you anymore :)

I did say that I agree with your pointer : Cooperation between communities is good
I also pointed out that the part about posting without an approval or even a warning to the admins of n-ice constitutes something from which neither community can benefit. I considered that this part was "absent or non-spoken about" in your oppinion. Therefore I consider that Chucky`s sarcasm and irritation are both understandable and I think we should praise his patience.
If you do not want to take the conversation in circles, why repeat yourself? Especially since it is on a point I did not contest? Also do you know what touché means?Used as an acknowledgement during a discussion of a good or clever point made at one’s expense by another person: In this context it means that after kwissy's link I understand the words Chucky used and acknowledge that my reply was partially wrong.

Other admins (including myself) would have deleted the posts and the account of the creator and take precautious measures to avoid such " rule pushings " from happening again. Chucky manifested his sarcasm and irony but was very patient.
I am well aware of that, but I think that deleting this post or deleting an account about this post would be wrong because it is harmless and does not break any rules. You might not agree that it could be an example of cooperation, but it is still not worth the above mentioned actions imho.

I won`t continue with the answers if I feel that we are going off-course.
Nobody forces anybody to do anythig

The sentence "I gave Chucky more privileges is not reflecting the truth".
Being able to do more things and have more access in servers and so on is often called privileges. Since Chucky has clearly got more, and you were one of the few persons that could grant him that, I concluded what I said. I fail to see what part of this is not reflecting the truth. Maybe you understood me wrong. I did not mean that you gave him some kind of special treatment or favored him in an unfair way or based on nothing at the expense of others. I do not even care what the reasons were, neither do I or should I have any say in that process. I simply applaud the steps and the outcome. It is always a good thing to have somebody capable of taking over, especially if your presence is uncertain as you indicated yourself.

Last but not least, you might not believe it but I am not just contesting you at everything for the sport of it. Despite our differences I can be convinced of something else than my initial idea. I think that your idea that I can keep on going endlessly is due to the fact that I do not stop because the other party starts exaggerating, repeating and dragging non related matters to the discussion in a sea of words.

Oh dear lord thank you for saving the day with your miraculous insight...

First of all I said that I also understand the irritation. Secondly I do not defend any person or server/community in particular. I support good ideas (imo) and contest ideas I consider bad. Did  you even see all the posts where I defended N-Ice while you were holding radio silence? The previous post about the tournament (in Portugese) was trolling and spamming and I spoke out to that as well.

Besides, did you read the full conversation before your reply? (including Kwissy's link?)

Also you might want to look through the n-ice rules again before classifying posts as spam:
9. No spamming or commercial advertising. Recommending OpenTTD related web pages or other servers is OK.
I think this case is explicitly mentioned here...

By the way nice to see you again and a sincere congratulations on giving chucky more privileges and access. From what I have seen he has done an excelent job the past few months  :D.

Also nice to  see that you now know what pointers are in stead of thinking they mean something like jabs

I don't think that should be a problem Chucky: BTPro and Novapolis have advertised each other's tournament on the other forums for quite some time now, and I for one think it is a good thing.

Tournaments are fun, even more so if there is more competition. They can also be a good thing to attract people to the game, or online playing of the game, (irrespective of the community)
You might not be aware of it but most, if not all good players are active on multiple communities or were in the past. They offer different servers, goals, slight rule differences and other type of competitors.

I can understand your irritation versus ST2, but in this case I highly doubt the need of sarcasm.

(besides this opinion I am also of the oppinion that even more cooperation between communities could be a huge benefit. In stead of multiple servers with the same goals and more or less the same map (essentially splitting the potential player base) the focus could be on offering variety. Also shared moderators/ admins (definitions of those differ quite a lot on different communities) could increase the % of time someone is available (decreasing player frustration). Shared development of game features could also be done.
Now don't get me wrong, I know this is hard because of differences in point of view and silly little vendettas like these but a bit more cooperation in stead of dirt throwing could really benefit both "sides")

I voted for the beer option because it is summer (and hot) and I like beer. That said: the topic and the poll do confuse me.

The title suggests that you would like to advertise the upcoming BTPro tournament, but the message is in a language the majority of people do not speak. You then suggest that Myhorta should translate it, but he has got nothing to do with this tournament (as far as I know)...

Of course I could use some translator software, but as most people know, results are sub-optimal at best. Also it is usually in favor of the person advertising that the majority of the intended  people understand the message.

This leads me to the real question: why put a complaint in the general chat section in stead of the complaints section and why disguise it as an advertisement?

Also why not give your own organised tournament the decent exposure it deserves?

Really there are no winners here. Admins here are not surprised by your attacks anymore, people are not informed about the tournament and you actually look a bit silly and vindictive.

besides in my personal opinion rules are there to keep the games fair and fun for the majority, not just to be enforced/stuffed up peoples throats just because they are there. A rule such as the language one is there to keep the social aspect of chat intact, so if you or someone else is bothered by a violation they should complain about that fact, (and as soon as possible) in stead of trying to start a jousting fight. Now I am going to do some garden work in the sun :)

Suggestions / Re: Multi-companies... allowed?!
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:19:39 pm »
Hi once again :)

Well first let me ask: why you ask a question you already seem to have the answer to?

In your first post you say that people that start multiple companies like that are cheaters, that it is unwanted behavior and against the general OpenTTD rules. Since you have already made up your mind about it, what is the use of this question:
Quote
- when a company do a reset/create new 18 times is what?
for now... acceptable, correct?

If your point is that it is against current rules, but not reacted on/enforced responded to, why not just ask why admins don't or simply state that you think it is bad?

Now back to your questions: As I stated in an earlier post long ago I think that difference between rules/enforcement between communities are good.It gives players a choice and add more variety. In the end more people playing the game is good for the whole community as they are a motivation to continue work and might even contribute themselves one day.

There are also a number of other differences between n-ice and BTPro. (Walking on water, station spread to name two). If you want to equalize all that, why not make one big community with 40 servers and a joint channel. That way there will be more admins available as well!

So in the end, I do not believe anything that happens on n-ice should be a problem for you at BTPro, because they are simply not the same. Have you ever had a player that made multiple companies at BTPro and when confronted told you: but it was allowed on n-ice?

And now I will ask you to be direct again... Do you think Kwissy cheated? If so say it out straight, and stop insinuating. Also please explain in what way. It would be usefull for all admins to know, because the more you know about cheats, the easier it is to act against them.

Offtopic: About the image, it was simply a reference to the fact that you usually use that image to identify yourself. I also think that you introduced yourself somewhere with "ST2 aka the fox", but that might be my memory playing tricks on me. So in short: my mood is in no way positively or negatively affected by your avatar. Thanks for taking the trouble nevertheless.

Ps. Would it be possible to have some answers in stead of more questions in your reply? It saves me and others a lot of reading between the lines

Ban/Unban Requests / Re: Kwissy is a cheat
« on: June 02, 2014, 06:11:16 pm »
ST2, my dear foxy friend. Have another beer and calm down :)

First of all I can see where the impression of abuse comes from with that log, but Kwissy already explained himself. Besides the fact that there is hardly any benefit from terraforming on the aircraft server and you cannot transfer money that is still a loan, I do not see where the abuse could possibly be.

The other option you offer is trolling, but since he does not seem to bother anybody, I wonder where that would be...

Wikipedia quote: (I know shame on me for using that as a resource :P )

"In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]"

With that in hand it seems more like you are trolling. If you think he cheated, say it straight-out and don't ask questions you perfectly well know the answers to.

I am no admin, but to answer your question about it being allowed or not: I guess with your experience you know what abuses are possible and that this was not one of them.

I also think changing manager face, HQ location or company color a dozen of times is not a thing most people would do for fun, yet those are also achievements. Crashing a train also gives an achievement, and doing that on purpose is also not allowed as you know.

You know how it feels to be falsely accused, so I would expect you not to do it yourself...
(And yes, repeating that he is either a cheat or a troll is accusing.) Now let's all get back to the order of the day.

Peace out!

In order to get to the root of this, we need to ask ourselves: What actually is a Kwissy?

Sure I know that the chat is mirrored, not sure what you mean by "what I have done before" though.
Don't worry, I was not under the impression that you were planning on un-banning me.

Do you know how signatures work? I don't repeat anything, it is placed automatically. Since I was told that it was not meant negative I took it as a compliment. If anybody is bothered by it, they can just tell m and I'll change it. Is it bothering you?

I don't  understand how I can be more a player. I have never done anything wrong in-game (except for the warning mentioned earlier). Also I regularly help players if they ask a question or so.

Really guys, I don't get why I suddenly am the bad-guy. I finally realize see that everything I say is fruitless though, so I'll give up my appeal.

PS. maybe you guys should hire The_Dude as spokesman. Except for Imus he was the only one that gave a clear reply without insinuations or 'reading between the lines'.
Since he is a global moderator here on the forums I'll just go with his reply.

PPS. This topic can be locked now.

I agree that it gets a bit  out of hand here. This topic could have been closed much earlier though if I got a reply to ONE relevant question. I will repeat it for the fourth time now:
What is the connection between my actions and an in-game ban?

Fact of the matter is that even in this large amount of replies there is no answer to a quite specific question. All I see are some vague insinuations. If I compare that to other topics here this is a big difference. In those topics at least one admin is usually able to  give the reason (quite fast).

Unfortunately no spring break for me...  No need to apologize for your English, I am not a native speaker either and I am aware that my English is far from perfect aswell.
About the signature, I was made to believe that quote was meant in a friendly/neutral way so I saw no harm in it.

PS. I don't think there is a need to show you how I can play. Most of you have seen me play more than once. In that games I have been warned exactly once. This was in a long run game I was playing with my flatmate for not leaving enough space around a factory. So again, nothing to prove IMO.

Fair point and taken. I guess I have to realize better when things are fruitless and just let it be.

The_Dude, I am used to a higher level of replies from you...

You again showed how it warmths your heart when you can just hurry up and mock someone.

Especialy when it is Alex making mistakes...

Replace Alex by ST2 in that sentence and this might just be a perfect example of "the pot calling the kettle black..."

Now just a short reply to the alleged witch-hunt: I understand how things might seem and I guess that is just something I need to deal with. Each of my actions towards him has been provoked from his side (imo)... I'll be the first to admit that my topic in the complaints section was started because I personally felt offended by allegations thrown at me. This is quite unrelated though.

If you want to have details or examples ask me and you can get them. I your aim is just to pour a little more oil on the fire: keep it up, it seems to work

@ST2: thanks for telling the truth, but in this case I did not feel that it was needed for me to go into details because I already told the people that need to know and I assume they will deal with it.  This topic was started for the reason I mentioned in the first post: I see no relation between my actions and an in-game ban.

If I did not do those things, I don't understand the need to mention them as examples. Maybe if you are having a hard time to express yourself in English, keep to what is needed. It avoids such misunderstandings.

Now I repeat myself: There was no witch hunt. I tried to solve things in private but got ignored, accused  and threatened. That is why I had to take things higher up.
As to the spamming: I already told you that I already got punished for that. Also I don't see a connection between either of those accusations and an ingame ban. (since all of this happened in chat)
