Suggestions / Re: [Poll] Competition on secondary industries

« on: May 21, 2013, 12:27:10 pm »

I would prefer a penalty/bonus system on funded industries, while maintaining the competitive play style of n-ice servers.

I like this penalty/bonus thing.. but i'm sure it would be hard to implement.. may be it would need a new grf that awards the penalty/bonus based on the dates in which the stations were built..

Why is this post dormant? I'm seeing more and more people violating this rule nowadays. We either change it or strictly enforce it.

I was playing taken and arctic-tycooners <- (best settings and GRFs on entire network) where you are owning everything(cities and mines too).

I don't think owning everything would be fun. Competition should be there. You get the motivation to level up only when you compete.. is it not? Partially owning a few industries can be allowed though..

How about a completely new server where you can claim 'x' number of industries and have exclusive rights to it just like we have in CB?

Two conditions:

• Just like CB where you can only claim a town whose population is < 500, here you can only claim an industry that produces < 80 units of a particular cargo.
• You can't change an industry after you've claimed it

This should be possible with this new version of OpenTTD but

the majority of the admin team has to agree and last but not least: the man that has put an incredible amount of work into this community (YorVex) should agree!

Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Suggestions / New server suggestion: Temperate, 1980 to 2080, 800perf, 5billion, 400 points

« on: January 26, 2013, 08:03:20 am »

Hey I am suggesting a new server with the following settings. Opinions are welcome.

Climate: Temperate 1980 to 2080
Perf Score: 800 (+50 points for full perf)
Points: 400 points for win in 25 years, 300 points for 50 years, 200 points for 75 years.. ie., -4 points every year after 2005
Goal: EUR 5 billion
Map size: 1024 * 1024 or may be twice that
Towns: 50 initial, hostile
Industries: Funding only (One industry per town), no stealing
Limits: 1000 RV, 150 to 200 Trains, 25 Ships, 25 Aircrafts

How about we also allow users to own a certain number of industries. for eg., a user can have exclusive rights for 10 industries of his choice...no changing allowed...

Instead of asking an admin to move us to our company, in case of disconnection/powercuts, can this be automated..? like clicking on join company will match our ip with that of the ip that created the company and move us to that company? can this be done? anyways i'm skeptical about this! coz most people have dynamic ip's assigned by their isp's.... enlighten me someone!
