Title: Noise Limits
Post by: Doc on March 16, 2021, 10:55:14 pm
I always thought a local authority would not let you build near it if your building would exceed noise limits, but in this case I just saw a third airport pop up at the edge of the map at a city which aleready had a limit of 13/15

The next closest town has a noise limit of 3 so it is not as if they managed to build in the authority area of another town.

Just wondering how this is possible.... does distance from town centre reduce noise contribution?

Yes in general they noise limits do stop new builds, but, the futher away you are fro a town centre, the less noise will be created by the new structure, for example, i can place the biggest airport (noise 25), suffiently far enough away to enable it be placed wehn noise is 23 (it's usually connected to a rail station so it's not actually as far away as it looks.

I suspect in your picture, the newest airport is sufficiently far enough away from that town centre for it to gain a noise reduction for itself; probably affecting itself as 2 instead of 5 noise.
