precisely the right place to launch this challenge: What other games n-ice users play?
well, better say what other games i play myself :P
- Settlers 2 (10th Anniversary version but have the original S2)
- Settlers 4
- Zero Hour
- Age of Empires (several versions, depends of the mood)
- Farm Frenzy 3 (came with this PC and is quite funny :)
- Splinter Cell (Chaos Theory, Double Agent, Conviction)
- Some ROMs under MAME (missings of the pub's machines)
- Commandos (love all)
- Far Cry
- ...
I guess for gamers the list can be huge too ;D

Well, the list could be quite long.. Since I got my first PC (80486 ^^) back in the 1995, I love the old stuff too.
- X-Com 1-3
- Master Of Orion 1-2
- Jagged Alliance 1-2
- Heroes of Might & Magic series, since King's Bounty
- Knights & Merchants
From the newer games I prefer RTS. For example, beatin' up my friends in C&C: Zero Hour or Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War or StarCraft or any other RTS stuff.

- X-Com games - we gotta love that ones... Not known by many ppl but a goooood turn based game
- Knights & Merchants - sadly, a gameplay kind that got lost (for what I've played)

he's not that annoying...whenever i see a screenshot i wonder what the hell is that...but i always tell him that it's nice, cos i don't understand the game...
he's the one playing, not me, so...:P

I play alot of Runescape and NFSu2 but both games are from like 2004 so i dont think many know about them :D

about L4D2,
I guess it's related with the news that Valve have checked that Open GL is more efficient then Direct3D and even with the actual problems with AMD or Nvidia graphic drivers they decided to develop basically to Linux... because they believe that Windows 8 will be a catastrophe... I don't blame them... because I share of some opinions too :P

yep. they got more performance using opengl than direct3D, even when running it in windows!

It's a remake of C&C RA and some other old C&C titles.

AoE 2 is awesome, have you tried playing it online? (use voobly or gameranger).

Long ago I have, recently I only played it at some LAN parties. It was hard to make fair teams though because of the huge skill difference :p

that's why i suggested voobly, it uses elo so you can find "fair" matches ;)

If you're lazy and like AoE2 then definitely check out AoE2:HD on steam. It was -75% off around christmas so I bought it for 5euros.
The graphics aren't really updated, the only changes I noticed were the water and fire effects look more HD. The multiplayer is way better though. It also has ELO and works through steam if you want to play with friends. There are also some slight gameplay tweaks.
I think voobly is slightly better, that's why I said the HD edition is for lazy people :D. If you don't want the hassle of creating a voobly account, installing voobly & patching AoE2 yourself + possibly having to fix the resolution or color bugs. Then the HD edition is right for you.

hehe, somebody I know found out that terminating the "explorer.exe" after starting aoe "solved" the color bug. Not really an elegant solution, bit for some reason it worked...

well, after spending some time around AoE2:HD (too)... since it cames out ^^
I... wanted to kill some crazy robots...
I think someone mentioned it... but Commander Zod (http://zod.sourceforge.net/) still rocking... and opensource ^^
oh well... maybe good for the players that visit some "abandonia" type of sites ^^
But, like OpenTTD, no fancy graphics... but the fully gameplay is there :)

TBH, i haven't even installed most of them :P

i am not the type of guy who plays a single player game a second time, nevertheless worth mentioning are the following games i have played in the past:
- second sight (unique story and gameplay)
- the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series (best "postapocalyptic style" atmosphere i have experienced in a game so far, expecially in the first game)
- fahrenheit (biggest strength here is the story, it's more like an interactive movie than a game)
- heavy rain (same as for fahrenheit, also from same publisher)
- the last of us (good postapocalyptic atmosphere, good story)
- assassins creed 3 and 4
- GTA (i played GTA 1 and 2 but didn't like them very much - but i finished every game starting from GTA 3, with GTA san andreas and GTA 5 being my favourites)
as for multiplayer games i played Minecraft some time but not recently. maybe at some later point i will play it again. also i played natural selection a lot.
the only online game i am still actively playing as of today is counter strike: global offensive. there i am mostly playing matchmaking with a fixed team of steam friends using teamspeak, currently i am proudly holding the "distinguished master guardian" rank (http://www.pro-hl.com/images/prohl/csgo_ranks.jpg). but it seems that i am the only one in the OpenTTD community that also plays CS, otherwise there doesn't seem to be any overlapping between OpenTTD and CS players.
